Excited...

I am so excited because we have already had 75 high school folks sign-up with us to go to Sharp Top with us this summer.  I really never imagined that we would have that many kids sign-up!  We have a big sign-up night & the morning of that night my boss & I were talking & we guessed that about 35 kids would sign-up, we were very wrong!

I am so excited about all these folks going to camp with us because it really is going to be the best week of their life.  They will get to be a kid, play games, swim, run around barefoot, not have a care in the world, hang-out with their leader, & get to hear the truth about Jesus.  We are trying to get more spots so that we can take 2 buses full of kids to camp.  There are still several girls out there that I am praying will be on the bus going to camp with me.  I want them to experience camp so bad!  I want them to hear about Jesus so bad!  Hopefully we will have many more names added to this list as camp gets closer!

On a different note this has become Lucy's morning routine - drink milk, stand on the couch, & watch SS or Dora.  I was trying not to just turn on the TV when I need to get things done, but I have thrown that out the window in the mornings.  Of course I am running around trying to get out the door & it's nice that Dora keeps Lucy busy while I am doing that.  Is that bad?

Fun Weekend

Lucy & I made the trip to see my parents over the weekend & it was so much fun.  My Mom planned a girls weekend a while back & it has been something that I have really been looking forward to ever since it was on my calendar.  Mom did a great job planning everything & I always love being with my family.

The best part of the weekend was....

Yes, we went to see Wicked & it was amazing!  I love going to plays & don't get to that often so I was soaking in every minute of the performance.  If you ever get the chance to go see Wicked - do it!

After the show Grandma took us out to eat at a new sea food restaurant in town & we enjoyed talking about the show & catching-up with each other.  Can't wait til the next girls weekend.
Lucy has a little stomach bug (which I realized in the car on the way down there when I looked back & she was covered in throw-up) so she didn't participate in much but she did get some quality time with Grandpa.  Even though she was not feeling too great she still loved being at Grandpa & Grammy's house.

Thanks for the fun weekend, looking forward to the next one!

Valentine's Day Decor

Every year after I take down all the Christmas decorations I feel like the house always looks so sad & plain jane so I like to put something up & since having Lucy I want to try & decorate for more occasions.  I like having reasons to celebrate & the ordinary days seem a little bit more special when there is something being celebrated or something to look forward to so all that to say I tried to bring Valentine's Day into our home a little more this year & I had lots of fun doing it.  I just had a few things this year that I either made, printed off, or got from the Target dollar section (or that Lucy Jane's sweet little hands made - note the bottom left corner).  Now that I have to take the Valentine's Day stuff down what do I put up now?

Happy Valentine's Day!

This is love:
not that we loved God,
but that he loved us
and sent his Son
as an atoning sacrifice
for our sins.

Snow Day 5

That's right we had yet another snow day this week.  Honestly, I could kind of get used to snow days about once a month, I don't mind staying in.  The biggest problem is now I kinda feel like I am just now entering into the world again.  It felt like we were at a good pace this semester & now it feels like we are starting over.  Anyway, this snow day didn't really affect me too much since it was a Wednesday.  For Lucy & I Wednesdays consist of going to Bible study, meeting high school girls or leaders for lunch, home, & then leadership at night.  I had planned on using most of this Wednesday to work on my talk that I gave at YL club yesterday so that's mostly what I did, but we did manage to fit a few other things in like...

Pigtails!!!

Lucy Jane's first time to wear her hair in pig tails.  We took these pics while watching Dora because she hated getting her hair done so to make her happy again we watched Dora.

We also made some Valentine's Day treats for Lucy's teachers at school.  I got the idea of using Sonic drink holders for teacher gifts from my sister, Hannah, & it turned out to be a great thing & so cheap.  I filled the drink holder with lotion from Bath & Body Works (got it for free b/c I am a member of the B&BW luv club), cookies, hot chocolate, a few pieces of candy, & a Valentine from Lucy Jane.  I am so thankful for her pre-school teachers they do a great job & are so sweet to Lucy.  I love that she is getting to go there twice a week this year.

Happy Birthday Cody!

Happy Birthday to the best Dad, husband, friend, teacher, coach, & so many more things!!  Lucy & I are so thankful that we have you in our life to love us & lead us.  We wish we could have done so many special things for you today & given you everything because you deserve it.  Thanks for being you, I'm glad we got to celebrate you today!

Lucy & I took Cody lunch at school today & then came home to get dinner ready. Cody had very specific requests for his birthday dinner.  Pork loin (thank you Paula dean) & this is a super easy & yummy way to make it, Cody always requests it.  Rolls - I found this recipe on a cooking blog I read sometimes & it was yummy & easy. Mash potatoes the way my Dad makes them, I tried, but they were not as good :(. Spinach salad, luckily I had some dressing left over from a YL leader dinner we had at our house so I didn't have to make that again.    And...last but not least the b-day cake that Cody always requests - Italian cream cake it is delish!

Snow Day 4

Snow Day #4 has definitely been a lot warmer than the past 3 snow days, it was about 33 this afternoon!  Today has been great, we managed to get out to Target for great deals, Braums for milk, Sonic for a snow day treat & dinner at Ronnie's Hamburgers with friends.  The roads are definitely much better but there are still some icy spots.

Thanks to some friends Lucy Jane now has a snow suit so it was much easier to go outside & play in the snow although we just managed to stay out there for a few minutes.  Enjoy the pics - they might be last snow pics till next year, although Dallas just got dumped on so you never know.

Snow Day 3

Yes, we are still inside & they have just called off school again for tomorrow!  Crazy it was 11 here today!  It just has not gotten any warmer so the snow & ice has not gone away.  The roads are OK but there are still some people who have not been able to get out of their neighborhoods & definitely school buses can't drive on these roads so it's pretty much impossible to have school.  We did get out last night & go to YL leadership.  We decided to have it since all our leaders were out driving around anyway, everyone was going stir crazy, & some of leaders are in apartments & are running low on food so we needed to get them a hot meal.  It was good to get out & see people.  There were some high school girls at the house we went over to & they pretty much took over with Lucy & she was exhausted when we got home.

What have we been doing the last 3 days?  Well sometimes nothing, sometimes lots of things.  I was SO EXCITED to go to Target today, I had all my coupons ready & everything but our car wouldn't start so we stayed in, it was probably best.  We have enjoyed the family time & extra sleep & it has been nice to catch-up on organizing things, working on our will, cleaning, etc.  Cody has been working on grad school a lot & I have done some organizing of my coupons & my home binder - very nerdy but i have been wanting to do this for a while.

We got a snow suit from some friends yesterday so we will probably go out in the snow tomorrow, it's going to get up to 36 tomorrow!

Here's a few pics from Snow Day #3

Snow Day 2

We started getting a little bored on day 2 so we attempted to make some play dough.  It was my first time to make play dough, I can always remember my mom making it for us growing up so I was excited to make some for Lucy Jane.

All I did was 1 cup warm water, 2 cups four, 1tsp. veggie oil, 1/4 cup salt, & some food coloring. Most recipes use cream of tarter but I didn't have any, so we went without & it turned out OK.

We went with the purple food coloring  & it was a hit.  Lucy Jane really enjoyed playing with it & it was nice to have something a little different to play with.

Even with the purple play dough the bowl & spoon are still her toys of choice.

Snow Day #1

Snow Day #1 at the Blair house was filled with lots of fun.  Snow days are always a good/bad things for me.  I like to stay in our warm house with everyone but it always means that we will have to make up that day of school & those days usually come in the spring when it's really nice to have a day off, oh well.  We really did get dumped on here, we had about 8 inches of snow & 2-3 feet of snow drifts in our backyard.

Here are a few pics from our snow day! You can click on the collage to make it bigger & it you look close enough you can see the Texas style snow boots Lucy has on - boots with shopping bags over them!

I also made some bread during our snow day.  I have read & seen some things about people trying to get American families to start baking bread again so they are coming up with some really easy bread stuff to do.  I will share this on another post, just wanted to document it.
