Fall Saturdays

It officially feels like somewhat of fall here because of what our Saturdays are starting to look like.  I really really hope we are done with the 100+ temps but I don't want to speak too soon.  This week it has been amazing in the 70's & 80's & we are loving life in those temps.

Fall Saturdays many times = football for our family.  Now that Cody is done with grad school (YAY!) he is much more available on Saturdays to actually do something besides study & write papers.  Recently he discovered his new favorite game, spike ball, & it is a huge hit for high school & college people.  It's pretty much tearing up our yard & last week  right after I had finally cleaned my floors I came home to boys playing spike ball outside & a mud covered living room & kitchen....I know God is just getting me ready for boys.
Spike ball

Pretty typical of what happens in the kitchen on football days, a whole batch of cookie dough from Sam's in consumed & lots of pizza, this was after most people left.
Lucy isn't really into football so she mostly just runs around outside trying to see if anyone will play with her.  Luckily this weekend she had 2 birthday parties to attend on Saturday & she loved them.  The first party was dinosaur themed, it was at nature center in town & was so fun.

Loved digging for dinosaur bones.

The next party was an All Star party & Lucy proudly wore her Texas cheerleader outfit.  She learned to say "Go Horns" earlier that day.
Lucy & Reese, they are good friends but always want the same toy, it causes a lot of problems.

All the parties were getting Lucy excited about her party, coming up in just 2 short weeks...

Western Day

Lucy had Western Day at school last week & she LOVED it.  The fair was in town so they brought over lots of baby animals for the kids to pet, like baby kangaroos, I was very impressed.  They also had pony rides for all the kids.  Lucy's teacher told me that she was dying to ride the pony but when it came time to actually get on the pony she freaked out.  Oh well, we still have a few more years of Western Day.

As usual Lucy would not smile or stand in any kind of still position for a picture, but I tried to get a few after school, she was on a major sugar high from all the treats at Western Day.

Oh, & she learned the word, "Yee Haw" & was basically screaming it all night  & the next morning when she woke up she laid in her bed yelling "yee haw momma" until I came to get her.

One of the best pics I could get, you can kind of see her sweet smile here.

Finally still, but not for pictures only to read through her Dora book.

Here is Lucy telling us about her day at school - reminder she is on a major sugar high!

First Day of School!

Lucy started back to school last week & we were both ready & very excited!  She loves being with friends, playing, & trying new things.  I am thankful for the school she goes to as it is a great way for her to learn to play with other kids & explore lots of new things.  I can't wait to see all that she learns this year.

She loves her backpack (thanks to Dora) & her "box" or her lunch box.  She insists on carrying them everywhere.

Saying, "cheese"  the front door picture didn't work out so well this year, she was too excited & did not want to sit still.

It took forever for her to get to the car because she wanted to pick up every little thing & put it in her backpack.

When we got to school I tried to get one last picture but it wasn't happening.  She was way too busy watching everyone else walk into school & was very concerned that there were kids crying on their way into school.

When we got into her class she went straight for the kitchen & said, "bye bye momma."  There were a couple of kids in her class that were crying but Lucy was not about to cry at all, she was just way too excited to be at school, such a big girl, I am so proud of her!  They have group nap time at school & Lucy didn't do so well in that last week but hopefully it will get better.  I wish I could be a fly on the wall while they are trying to get her to lay on the floor & sleep with 10 other kids.  I am sure she is thinking, "why would I want to sleep when there are so many toys & friends to play with!"

Here are all the random words she was saying on the way home that day:
schoooool
bun - fun
cass - class
I pay - I play

Have a great school year Lucy Jane

Last few days of summer...

I have been slacking a bit with my camera but I did take a few pics during out last week of summer.  It was still 100+ degrees here so we had to get creative.  We have been hitting up the library for story hour (Lucy is still a little young to sit through it but whatever), spent lots of time in the pool, & trying to find anything inside that we can do.

I really wanted s'mores one day so after Lucy got up from her nap we made some in the oven.  They were a big hit with both of us.

Please excuse the bed head...

Lucy has started really loving doing crafty things.  She can only do so much but painting & coloring are something she requests to do almost daily.  I love doing crafty things so it's fun for both of us!  It's a little messy but that's what sprinklers are for.
